Project Buyer - Automotive

Reporting to Purchasing Director, the main functions in the position will be:

• Work with Engineering at initial design concept to assist with attaining target cost
• Evaluate and assess supplier's quotations to ensure commercial, technical and quality requirements are achieved
• Purchasing tools and equipment for buy components
• Drive cost reduction, process improvement projects and support reliability projects
• Negotiate changes between contract and actual project needs
• Obtain and evaluate offers and prices for the RFQ
• Create price comparison sheets
• Track and report savings
• Secure that supplier selection complies with Targets/Budget and are included in the supplier panel
• Preparation and presentation of Supplier Nomination
• Ensure that supplier is prepared for production, including all needed system updates
• Lead/coordinate negotiation of all major project purchases in all commodities, utilizing available department resources as assigned by supervisor and working within business-unit, divisional, regional & global supplier agreements
• Ensure deliverables from suppliers to fulfill APQP activities handled by SQA/ASQ
• Preparation and presentation of internal and external project reviews
• Organisation and management of cost analysis workshops / supplier workshops
• Active participation in milestone meetings
• Assistance in ensuring the proper start of the project regarding deadlines and quality effects
• Proactive cooperation to ensure goal achievement for all relevant functions, components, and process chains
• Identifying target deviations and conflicts and deriving the corresponding decisions or escalation
• Results report to the relevant project committees
