Avanti is an AIM listed public company who is launching Europe's first superfast broadband satellite, HYLAS, in spring 2010, covering most of Europe. Further EMEA satellites are planned.
Avanti has made good progress in pre-selling and creating distribution channels whilst HYLAS has been built. It now has some 50 channel partners and around 4000 customers using leased capacity. The advantage of selling prior to launch is that many of the operational issues related to the provision of service have been identified and automated. It also provides significant validation to its business plan assumptions and gives a strong base from which Avanti expects to meet revenue targets.
As a result of its growth to date and in order to accelerate its activity ahead of the HYLAS launch window Avanti is now seeking a Country Sales Manager for Spain and Portugal.

Reporting to the European Channels Manager, the hired candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Carry a significant personal sales target
- Required to recruit, train and lead the channel partners that will generate revenues in such a way as to maximise their performance to ensure continued growth and customer retention.
- Translate the channel partnerships into individual sales targets and subsequent revenues.
- Work closely with channel partnerships to generate relationships with governments at both national and local level to secure supported broadband contracts wherever they are available.
- Ensure that the channels for which they are responsible work effectively with the overall Sales, Marketing and Operations functions within the business.
- Provide regular forecasts from the generation, management and closing of a significant pipeline of sales.
Perfil buscado (Hombre / Mujer)
The hired candidate will have a demonstrable track record of selling wholesale telecommunications services with a strong capacity for closing deals and a particular experience in managing channels in a multinational environment.
He/she will have the ability to
- Build strategic relationships with key partners and customers
- Create winning bid proposals
- Plan and conduct complex contract negotiations
- Present in a compelling manner
The hired candidate will have a sound understanding of telecommunications technology, with ideally experience in broadband.
English and Spanish must be spoken fluently, Portuguese would be an advantage.
